Carestream CS 3600 Intraoral Dental Scanner

The CS 3600 is a wired intraoral scanner designed to capture digital dental impressions and full-color 3D scans for compatible restorative, orthodontic and implant workflows. It uses interchangeable scanning tips and connects to a properly configured computer through its included interface and USB components.

Testing and condition

This scanner was recently acquired from a professional dental-equipment environment.  Unit was powered on, diplayed a blue power light as shown in the photos.  

No compatible Carestream acquisition software or properly configured computer was available to perform a complete functional test. The scanner has therefore not been tested for:

• Computer or software recognition
• Live image acquisition
• Continuous scanning
• 3D model generation
• Calibration
• Color or shade capture
• Data export
• Clinical accuracy

The scanner optics were visually inspected and no obvious cracks were observed in the pictured optical window. No representation is being made regarding internal optical condition, calibration, software compatibility or clinical performance.

The scanner was connected to the included interface and power components and powered on successfully. The controls illuminated, but no software was available to test scanning or image acquisition.
